1:29:10: Today's Guests

Christine Foerster, creator of farm.stand, will be our first guest on "The Lisa D Show" today from 1 - 2 p.m. on KHRO 1150 AM. Tune in or stream the show from www.talkradio1150.com. Call the show @ 915.880.4376.

farm.stand is project based on a mobile, modular farm stand, which embodies an important relationship between art and the environment, art object and produce. During 2010-2011 farm.stand will serve as the meeting point and delivery system for a number of interventions, performances and art objects which will be part of an effort to engage with “do it yourself” technologies concerned with agriculture.

Christine Foerster works in a variety of visual media including textiles, performance, installation and mixed media painting. Her most recent work invites participants to reconsider their relationship to urban private and public space through their interaction with Shell-ter-wear, a medium that transforms from garment to a temporary shelter-pod.

farm.stand is currently on display at the UTEP Department of Art Biennial Faculty Exhibition at the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts.

Anne Giangiulio, also on display as part of the Biennial show, will join us to discuss her graphic design posters in the show. Giangiulio creates posters after concerts have come through El Paso, most notably the family running to Beck after his performance in 2009.

Both of these women represent very different genres and have some of the best works in the show. For more information on the Rubin Center, visit http://rubincenter.utep.edu.
