The Lisa D Show with William Scott Eason of The Art of Evolution Theatre






William Scott Eason founded The Art of Evolution Theatre in 2013, to provide youth of all ages and quality adult theatre experiences. a quality theatre experience by producing works that deal with the issues of religion/spirituality, sexual orientation, gender, race, and age in a way that encompasses how we as a society have evolved on said topics.

Thursday, April 27, 7p.m., the public is invited to the Community Theatre at Family Focus (2010 Dewey Ave.) to see "Ms. JoAnn, Can You Read Me A Story?", four short plays devoted to Joann Avery's 35 years of service at at Family Focus.

Learn how Eason is teaching youth the social skills needed to thrive and be directed, in life and in theatre. Also hear how theatre is transformative for youth and the directors they works with.

The Lisa D Show with Bob Chiarito



We are living in the days of "fake news" and self-publishing, a landscape that makes consuming media very tricky. One man has taken it upon himself and get creative about content prodcution and write and assign stories that matter in the community he loves, Chicago. Meet Bob Chiarito of The Chicago Ambassador on This Lisa D Show, where we talk about how he strings together a career covering news for print (NOT a thing of the past) and how we finds time to chase, write and publish the stories he loves.

Bio
Chiarito is the Editor of The Chicago Ambassador, an online publication and the source for all-things Chicago. The Chicago Ambassador is published on the WordPress platform, but it is not a blog, it is a publication put together by traditional press veterans who adhere to AP Stylebook guidelines and the best practices of traditional journalism. Chiarito is a journalist and lifelong Chicagoan. After graduating with a degree in journalism from Columbia College in Chicago, (I attended SIU in Carbondale for two years before transferring to Columbia). Bob worked for The City News Bureau of Chicago, where some of the country’s best reporters got their start. (covered mostly homicides there). After City News, Bob worked for The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, covering Chicago’s legal community.

Currently Bob freelances for the Chicago Tribune, Thomson Reuters, The New York Times., The Daily Herald and DNAInfo and Vice. In addition, he runs an online publication called The Chicago Ambassador, which features local stories and interviews.

The Lisa D Show with Christy Galyon



Listening artist Christy Galyon brings Sidewalk Talk to Downtown Evanston, Monday, April 10, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and Martyr’s in Chicago 5-8 p.m. The public is invited to sit for 10 minutes and talk to listening artists and be heard, for free. Being listened to is the start of good mental health.

Anyone can learn how to listen with love and get trained to be a listening artist. Find out how this project came to life, what Christy has learned about listening and how you can join in this interesting event/movement.

The Lisa D Show wtih Kristen Neveu



Kristen Neveu is a visual artist living and working in West Evanston. She is currently showing works at the Evanston Public Library, with an art reception on April 27, 6-8 p.m. Today we talk to Kristen about making room in life for creativity (as opposed to television) and the need to get art in front of people (any people). 



Evanston Public Library is showing a combination of old and new works by Kristen, abstract color formations and collages with nods to the past. A new body of work will show in West Dundee this May titled Clearing, featuring works that are smaller in size and inspired by Elton John’s song Daniel. 

Kristen is also participating in this June’s annual visual arts celebration Evanston Made, where she will open her studio to the public, show work at Evanston Art Center and show work at an area business. Visit kristenneveu.com for more information



Bio

Born in New York, and raised in Indiana and Iowa, Kristen Neveu lived in Chicago for 10+ years before moving to Los Angeles in 2007 to work for Warner Bros. In the summer of 2013, she moved back to Chicago to live in the city she loves.

Kristen graduated from The University of Iowa with majors in Communication Studies and Anthropology. A life-long artist, she's always created mixed media collages, paintings, and installations.

Her work has been exhibited at many locales across the Midwest and the West Coast, and is a part of many collections.
