2.25.10: Today's Guests

Today on "The Lisa D Show" we will discuss two upcoming events; YWCA Racial Justice Initiative's Jim Crow Module and "Come Walk on the Wild Side" at the El Paso Zoo.

We'll first talk with Adriana Payan from the YWCA about tonight's forum at the El Paso Times building focusing on segregation and racial justice. It is free and open to the public and recommended for people 16 and older. "Attendees will participate in role-playing scenes meant to illustrate how authorities once used intimidation to discourage blacks in the South from voting in elections."

From the El Paso Times: Skin color used to determine what schools children attended and where adults could sit on a bus. Those troubling times will be revisited from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday during the YWCA Racial Justice Initiative's Jim Crow Module. The event will be at the El Paso Times, 300 N. Campbell. RSVPs can be called into Adriana Payan at 533-2311, ext. 275.

Next we'll talk to Renee Neuert, the director of the El Paso Zoo, about an exciting event to welcome the newest exhibit for four African lions, Xerxes, Zari, Malaika and Kalliope - the African Exhibit.
