El Paso Rattler Outdoor Challenge

Press Release

The registration deadline for the El Paso Rattler Outdoor Challenge is THIS FRIDAY! There are a limited number of spots available, so be sure to register as soon as possible. Click here to register as an individual or as a team.

A team can consist of up to 4 people (one runner, one cyclist, and two rowers.) If a team has less than 3 people, one person will be responsible for two sections of the course. Individuals are also welcome to take on the entire Rattler course on their own!

Non-competitive participants are welcome to participate in single sections of the course. For example, if you only want to run the 5K and not bike or row, that's cool with us.

About the Rattler

The El Paso Rattler Outdoor Challenge is taking place on June 13, 2010. The purpose of the event is to promote eco-tourism in the border region by highlighting the areas' rich assets. This event captures the essence of the El Paso Marathon Foundation's mission, which is to promote health and fitness in the community, bring tourism to the region of El Paso, and provide support to local and national non-profit organizations.

The running course will begin in Tom Mays Park located in the Franklin Mountains. There will be a 5k or 10k option for runners. The course connects to the mountain cycling portion of the trail which will start at Tom Mays and connect to Doniphan. The cyclists will follow the trail to Borderland Ave., which connects to the River Park. There, you jump in your kayak/canoe and row 1.75 mi. down the Rio Grande to the finish line. The festivities will take place at Valley Oak Park on Gomez street (accessible by Upper Valley Rd.)
