Border Arts Residency Fundraiser
Today Willie Ray Parish and artist Susannah Mira will be in the studio to promote an art event happening this Friday night, 4/16 5-8 p.m.; Border Arts Residency presents "Return to Scale" featuring works by resident Susannah Mira. The event is at FORUM Art + Culture at 1500 Texas Ave., suggested donation $25. All proceeds from the event go to the Border Arts Residency Program, food and beverages included, plus a live auction with yours truly as the auctioneer.
As Tall As Lions Play Club 101
The band is coming through El Paso on their way to the big Coachella Festival in CA. Tonight's show is at Club 101 (1148 Airway Blvd.) with tickets available at the door for $15; all ages welcome. Doors at 6pm, show at 7pm with Bad Veins and D.A. opening. Site/MySpace:, Wikipedia entry:,

Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Dr. Moira Murphy from the Center of Inter-American Border Studies will call to talk about the Fire and Ice Event which is part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Fire and Ice: Literary Images of Women, Focus on Violence with Guest Speaker Author Mariela Narvaez-Stewart Wednesday, April 14th, 2-3 pm, Women's Resource Center, Union Building, UTEP Students and faculty can showcase their own writing and artwork. All are welcome.
