The Mighty Mujer 2011 Calendar Launch this Thursday at Commonwealth! Dale Watson and His Lonestars, the Lusitania, and Black Coyote. The calendar features hot local biking models to include Gabriela Gallegos, who organized the Eagle in the Sun Triathlon, Shannon Osborne of the University of Texas at El"Paso's Women's Resource Center and Michelle Zapanta, a local trainer and fitness columnist for the El"Paso Times. Also featured: Crystal Carbajal, Maritza Dominguez, Blanca Harp, Gretchen McElroy, Deena Mustin, Mia Rifai, Grace Tarng, Valerie Topp and Hope Wright.

And if you're lucky, today's show will feature a live interview with Austin's Dale Watson.

Center Against Family Violence celebrates HOPE at the Union Plaza:

11.09.10 – CAFV-Center Against Family Violence takes over Union Plaza for one night with two great events. Join us for an evening of art, music, cocktails and fun to honor the survivors’ road from TRAUMA TO TRIUMPH and celebrate the MIGHTY MUJER. This fall’s fundraising events for CAFV will take place on Thursday, November 18th, 2010 in the Union Plaza. Start the night off with Trauma to Triumph at the OLO Gallery, 504 San Francisco St. from 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased by calling 915.593.1000 x400. Guests will enjoy appetizers, cocktails and will be guided by internationally known mosaic tile artist, Sabina Munoz, through the creation of their own holiday lantern, patterned with colorful glass and beads. Then celebrate the launch of the 2011 Mighty Mujer calendar at Commonwealth Pub & Grub, 115 Durango, starting at 7:00p.m, for a $10 donation at the door guests will receive the 2011 Mighty Mujer calendar and admission to an amazing night of live music. Local favorites the Lusitania and Black Coyote will get the evening started for our special guests, Dale Watson and His Lonestars.

Proceeds from the Mighty Mujer calendar and Trauma to Triumph will benefit CAFV’s Emergency Shelter for Survivors of Domestic Violence which has assisted over 800 families last year. “We are thrilled to have these two fabulous events as a means to share our message of hope. We can be MIGHTY and can TRIUMPH over many obstacles. The 12 Mighty Mujer women are real El Pasoans., a true testament to the diversity that is our city,” said Stephanie Karr, Executive Director of CAFV.
