Event: The Everything Thing

Saturday, December 18 · 11:00am - 11:00pm
Glasbox, 1500 Texas Ave. #UP (enter from Langtry St.)

The Glasbox is having a Culture Festival, “The Everything Thing,” on December 18th, 2010 from 11am - 11pm at the Glasbox (1500 Texas Ave. #up, off of Langerty). The event will be open to the public to let everyone know what The Glasbox is all about. Entertainment includes Music, Artistic Performances, Food & Drink, Film, Screen Print (bring your shirt), and a Silent Art Auction. The cover is $10 at the door, or $5 with a blanket... or unwrapped toy donation.

Glasbox is a facility that manufactures opportunities for the Creatively inclined. The name Glasbox implies transparency, which is an important quality in communities in general and business specifically. It also, superficially, describes our present physical space with all of the windows, but the best thing about it is that it opposes the idea of a “black box,” which, in some circles, denotes an inscrutable subroutine, or a part of a system which is excessively esoteric. We are a community of Creatives who welcome others to join in the creative process, breaking down the “fourth wall” that separates the audience from the performance.

Glasbox Anchor Members include: The Border Theatre, EP Culture Beat, AK Printing, Reel House VOD, Katrin Bevins (jewelry), 9 Degrees Architecture, James Jiron (printmaking), Johnny Costello and the Ruckus (band), Linda Hains (painting), Chris Bevins (performance/spectacle), The Lusitania (band), Mary Constantine (painting), PSI (philosophy based think tank), Alice Hughes (painting/assemblage), Orson (painting), Miguel Valdez (painting/printmaking) and his band Mattox, Sebastian Fernandez (drawing), and Crazy House Media (recording studio) and Come Together Productions.

We are now offering a limited number of At-Large memberships for those who want an environment that is vibrant, respectful of individuality, as well as group dynamics, and seriously fun. First and foremost, Glasbox is a great place to work and be creative. Membership includes free access to the events we host: cultural events, art openings, theatrical events, classes, workshops, and seminars. We are putting the finishing touches on our Conference/Classroom and the first of several CoWorking areas. We stock snacks and drinks including (great coffee) which are available free of charge to members and their guests. There is even a gym if you want to break or need to blow off some steam. We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the creative process, through networking and collaborative opportunities.
